September 2012 GlossyBox USA ; First Impression

Saturday, September 22, 2012

I have finally received my first Glossybox!

This is my first foray into beauty subscription boxes of any kind.  I decided on Glossybox because they'll be collaborating with Refinery29 on an upcoming box (I know this is a weak excuse, hehe).  I was willing to buy the 3 months subscription because of that (that box will be filled with awesome goodies, I can't let that go!), and this also gives me an excuse to try out Glossybox itself.

I have to say... I'm quite impressed with Glossybox so far.

All the items in this months box will be of great use for me.  I have combination/oily skin, so the OC 8 Professional Mattifying Gel may work well for me.  The Missha bbcream was a nice surprise, as I've been meaning to find a starter bb cream to try out.  The Global Keratin shampoo and conditioner will be a luxury item for my hair since I've never tried any kind of shampoo or conditioner with keratin in it.  As for the Glossybox lipstick in Glossy Pink (from Kryolon for Glossybox), it's a nice addition, but I may have to experiment with this color to see if I like it or not.

Pricing information.

L to R; Kryolon lipstick in Glossy pink, Missha bbcream in no. 13, and OC 8 Professional Mattifying Gel.

Yikes, that Missha bb cream swatch looks way too pale for me.  Hopefully with some oxidation, the color will darken a bit and match my skin tone (my face is lighter than my arms/hands due to the protection from SPF).  As for the lipstick color... I definitely have to see this on my lips to see if it's a keeper.

I can't wait to start using these items.  Hopefully they'll become favorites of mine!

  1. Wow, those products you got are huge!! I was subscribed to Glossybox UK for nearly a year and I never got that many full sized products in one box! Lucky girl. The pink lipstick looks really pretty too!

    1. I noticed how each month for Glossybox, there seems to be 1 large sample size of a product. But this month's USA box was pretty blessed to have a few large samples :] For $20... I better get my money's worth!

  2. Glossybox USA appears to have the highest price of any of the various Glossyboxses with conversion figured in. They have said that there will be at a very min. of at least one full sizes product, but typically (so far) have had two full sized.Like last month we got a full sized Illamesqua nail polish and Elias Faas lip item (one of three types). But many people felt that the color choices felt like discontinued/not ideal shades. While I liked the nail polish shade (silver) that I received I wasn't thrilled with the lip color. You can read my review on my blog. i only just received this months box last night as I live further away from the distributation site. I haven't had the chance to see how the missha bb cream shade matches my skin, but a quick glance at the lipstick makes me think that I will like that shade. although the brand Kryolan makes me think of theater and stage makeup so perhaps it will have better staying power. I have been getting Glossybox since June (their 2nd month) and have reviews of tose boxes along with Starlooks Starbox which is entirely cosmetics. I also have reviews pending for beauty box 5, birchbox, and Julep Maven to name a few. i have posted reviews of the Starboxes I have received if you are interested in a cosmetics only box. I am following you via GFC and would love a follow back. I also write book and other various product reviews in addition to beauty product reviews.

by the way, if you do decide to try any of the other services I would so very much appreciate it if you could PLEASE mention my name/blog as the referral system helps me to TRY to keep costs down so that I can keep doing reviews. I have also done the same for other bloggers when I have first signed up for services. Also there is a free beauty sample program that if you are interested then please let me know and I can send you an invite as that one is still by invite only.
